Things to Do in Hurghada
with Kids — 2026 Family Guide
Hurghada is one of Egypt's most family-friendly destinations. The Red Sea is warm, calm and crystal clear. The excursions are varied and exciting. And the prices are a fraction of what you'd pay for the same level of experience in Europe. Whether you're on a TUI, Jet2 or EasyJet package holiday, or travelling independently — this guide will help you plan the perfect family days out.

Ask any family who has been to Hurghada what their highlight was and the answer is almost always the same — a boat day at Dolphin House with the chance of seeing wild dolphins. This is not a dolphin show or a water park. Sightings are never guaranteed. Our early 6AM departure is how we usually run the shared VIP day. For what Sha'ab El Erg actually is, and how responsible encounters work, read the Sha'ab El Erg visitor's guide.
Babies and toddlers can remain on the boat with adult and crew supervision while others snorkel. Life jackets are available. Entering the water depends on confidence and sea conditions. The shared VIP day normally includes two coral reef snorkeling stops, lunch and drinks.
A full-day boat trip to the Red Sea islands is one of the most popular activities for families in Hurghada — and for good reason. Crystal-clear turquoise water, white sand beaches, coral reefs and a relaxed atmosphere that suits all ages. Orange Bay and Hula Hula are the group boat days from €25. Eden, Paradise, Ozirea, Bianca and Utopia are listed separately on the island tours page.
Orange Bay and Hula Hula include a large comfortable boat, about two hours on the island, two snorkeling stops, buffet lunch on the boat and unlimited soft and hot drinks. Younger children often prefer the shallower water near the beach. Tell us ages on WhatsApp so we can match the island.
The desert safari is the most action-packed evening you can have in Hurghada. Quad bikes racing across golden Sahara dunes at sunset, a gentle camel ride, a traditional Bedouin village visit, cultural show and a BBQ dinner under the stars. Children absolutely love every part of it — especially the quad bikes, which come in smaller sizes for younger riders.
It's an evening excursion so it won't eat into your beach day. Pickup is typically late afternoon and you're back at the hotel by around 10PM after dinner in the desert.
Not every child or parent wants to get in the water — and that is fine. On the VIP Dolphin Tour and on the group island boats, guests can stay on deck, use life jackets, and watch the Red Sea from the boat. You do not have to snorkel to enjoy the day.
This suits mixed groups with grandparents, younger children, or anyone nervous around water. Tell Mohammed ages and swimming confidence on WhatsApp so we can match the programme.
Step into 1001 Nights. The Arabian Night is one of the most magical evenings you can give your children in Egypt. A camel ride at sunset across the desert, a visit to a real Bedouin village, a delicious traditional BBQ dinner and then a spectacular Tanoura spinning show and belly dancing performance under the stars. Children are wide-eyed from start to finish.
It's the kind of evening that children talk about for years afterwards. Completely different from anything available in Europe and a genuinely authentic cultural experience.
If your children have any interest in history, ancient Egypt or mummies — the Luxor day trip will blow their minds. The Valley of the Kings, the enormous Karnak Temple and the spectacular Temple of Hatshepsut are among the most extraordinary ancient sites on the planet. Our licensed Egyptologist guide tells the stories in a way that engages children brilliantly.
We travel in a shared small group of maximum 8 guests — never on a crowded coach — and our Egyptologist adjusts the commentary to suit all ages. Children often arrive uninterested and leave fascinated by ancient Egypt.
Egypt has some of the clearest skies in the world — and the Egyptian desert far from city lights is one of the best stargazing locations on the planet. Our stargazing adventure takes your family out into the Sahara for a jeep safari, camel ride, Bedouin dinner and then a breathtaking session with a professional telescope. Children are absolutely speechless when they see Saturn's rings or the Milky Way for the first time through a powerful telescope.
Book the Dolphin House trip on Day 1 or 2 of your holiday — it sets the tone for everything. The early 6AM departure is worth it. Children who see wild dolphins in the open sea never forget it. Book the Desert Safari on an evening — it doesn't affect your beach day and is the perfect complement to the sea activities. Space your excursions across your holiday so children have pool days in between.
Sun protection is essential. The Egyptian sun is deceptively strong even on cloudy days and even with a sea breeze. Apply high-factor sun cream (SPF50+) on children before every excursion and reapply after swimming. A rash vest is a good idea for children who spend a lot of time in the water.
Stay hydrated. All our boat trips include free soft drinks and water throughout the day — but remind children to drink regularly, especially on the desert trips.
Book direct and save. Hotel excursion desks and holiday rep desks charge significantly more for the same trips. Booking directly with Mohammed on WhatsApp gives you the same or better experience at a lower price, with a more personal and flexible service.
Don't pack too much into one day. Children tire quickly in the heat. We recommend one excursion every 1–2 days with pool time in between. This keeps children energised and ensures everyone actually enjoys the experiences rather than being exhausted.
